Light the 4th candle in the spiral (along with all the others).
“The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 NIV
What fears haunt you most this season? What if you allowed yourself to linger over it would paralyze you in your tracks? Take a moment and be honest with yourself. This season we light the candles to remind ourselves that the light of Christ has come, will come and continues to come into our lives. Let the candle light, the tree lights, the stop lights … all light remind you that you need not fear – God has come. Receive Him again and ask that he remove your fear and fill you with the Light of Jesus today.
Activity for families and kids – Materials needed: paper and materials for drawing.
Have your children draw what they are afraid of most. Look at the pictures and talk about them. Then read the scripture and talk about how the lights at Advent and Christmas remind us that Jesus is with us and we do not need to be afraid.
