February 11, 2016
Lent comes early this year. Early is good when we are talking about preparing our hearts to receive Christ. It is never too early to get started on a journey of faith growth. It is also, never too early for children to start learning about Jesus. This Lenten season the whole congregation will study the Apostle’s Creed together. The Apostle’s Creed is the foundation of our faith and provides a great study for families to work through together.
This blog will add support material for families to use along with the “Laying the Foundation: A family study of the Apostle’s Creed” by Luke Gilkerson. It can be found on the blog: intoxicatedonlife.com.
We will continue our tradition of using an Easter Tree as a teaching and remembering tool. (An Easter Tree is a bare branched tree – often colored white. They can be purchased, or can be simply made by painting a bare branch white and placing it in a container with stones or beans to hold the branch in place.) This blog will also provide ornaments that correspond with each lesson on the Creed. They have been created by Marcie Bringardner especially for this study. You can download the ornaments and print at home from this blog. There are 30 lessons, so we will cover five lessons a week during Lent starting Monday, February 15.
I look forward to this journey through the creed together.
