Faith in Action provides essential support to alleviate the effects of hunger and poverty in Dexter and Chelsea. Its goal is to make the quality of living better for the needy of our community by serving as a safety net, by facilitating access to outside available resources, and by acting in a role of advocacy for the voiceless and vulnerable here in our home community.
Faith in Action is one of the caring ministries that our church supports by holding one or two food drives a year in which over 200 bags of food are donated. We also have a food bin for weekly donations. Both the women's and men's groups and many members have donated to the Sponsor a Family Christmas program. In addition, a portion of the monies collected from the annual CROP walk, in which many of our members participate, are shared with FIA.
Another way of supporting FIA is to volunteer. Volunteers are engaged in a variety of ways. They staff and stock the clothing room. They keep the food pantries stocked. And they act as face-to-face greeters to every person who walks through the door seeking help. Interested in volunteering? Just contact Nancy Paul at 734.475.3305 to discuss ways you can be involved.
