I am sure you have heard the saying: With God, all things are possible. In today’s reading we hear those words again. But I have to say that the context for this saying is rarely ever mentioned, but I think it is quite important. The disciples are wondering who in the world can be saved if it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God. Jesus replies that it is not humanly possible for person to be saved –But with God everything is possible. Of course I think all kinds of things are possible with God, but really Jesus is getting at the most important thing – the salvation of humanity. Jesus makes it clear that the salvation of people, people we love, people we don’t, people we don’t know, people yet to be born…people, can be saved because WITH GOD all things are possible. May you be with God and join the possible this Lent.
