Third Sunday in Advent – light the pink candle
“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.’” Luke 2:8-10 NIV
When the angels came to the shepherds to tell about Jesus’ birth – they glowed. I wonder if they glowed because of the birth of Jesus, because they had lived in heaven with Jesus, or because were telling the good news about Jesus’ arrival, or because it was for all people? Perhaps it was for all these reasons. It reminds me of glow in the dark toys or fabric – what makes them glow? Being around and exposed to the light. Check your glow factor. If you are not glowing, Advent is a great time to come close to Christ and get your glow on!
Activity for Families and kids – material needed: glow in the dark stars or toys, pj’s etc…
Charge your glow in the dark object. Then turn out the lights and watch it glow. This is what being near the Jesus does for us, we glow and others can see and learn about Jesus from us.
