What is Governance?

Governance defines how we make decisions, both long-term and day-to-day.

It is important because everyone needs to know in what direction the church is going and how their role contributes to that vision.

What we're trying to accomplish

Our purpose is to develop and implement a governance structure that reflects the needs of a large and growing church so that our effectiveness can be maximized for God's kingdom.

We are working to more clearly define which person or team makes which decisions. Long term decisions would include ministry focus, major building expansions and new campuses like Miller Road. Day-to-day decisions include children's ministry programs, worship planning and fixing the air conditioner.

We are working to define and communicate the governance structure with staff, lay leaders and the congregation. Ongoing review of policies and direction will be built in to the structure, so they can be revised of policies and direction will be built in to the structure, so they can be revised as the Holy Spirit leads us. Ongoing communication will also be a key part of our work so everyone has a clear and common understanding.
